2008 lambs are grazing thee fields right now!

Lamb

We have a flock of Pedigree South Wales Mountain Sheep and a cross-bred flock.  We pride ourselves on working with nature, all our lambs are born on the fields where they stay with their mothers and graze the fields.  The lambs are not fed any artificial food, given concentrate diets or given dietary supplements of any kind.

Farm Fresh

We are farmers who supply top quality meat, only our own, and only lamb!

Suppliers procure meat.
Farmers produce it!

We are:

  • Specialist sheep farmers - not shopkeepers
  • Pedigree sheep breeders - not meat processors
  • Farm assured producers - meeting all standards for welfare, traceability and quality - not food wholesalers

Which is why we ask for your patience, many suppliers have a farm shop, or butchers outlet, which means they have a ready supply of meat always available.

As a farm, we do not have such facilities, so we only have meat available in batches, approx. every 3-4 weeks, as we use a local abattoir and butchery to process our lamb for us. And lamb is seasonal – so it will be available approx july to January only.

LambQuantities

All meat is supplied in joints and chops ready to freeze, to give you an idea of capacity, half a lamb can be packed into a standard supermarket carrier bag.  It will fit into a drawer of a normal domestic freezer.   Each half consists of:

  • A Leg
  • A Leg fillet
  • A Shoulder (often cut in two)
  • Rib chops
  • Chump chops
  • The Breast and neck (these are traditional cuts for 'cawl' they make fantastic stock for soups and stews, or you may wish to cut off spare ribs from the breast for the barbeque)

Quality

We are registered with FABBL (Farm Assured British Beef and Lamb),  FAWL (Farm Assured Welsh Livestock) and the new British Food Standard which means that we meet all criteria for animal welfare, traceability and quality.

LambKind Meat

The lamb we are producing is traditional and qualifies for the new term 'Kind Meat'. We personally deliver the lambs to a fully licensed and local abattoir where they are not subjected to any stress and respond positively to their usual handlers.

Delivery

Delivery will be direct to your home, please ring for details, carriage is included in the price. We will be able to tell you the next few delivery dates and you can choose a date and time convenient for you (please contact us if you are in the South Wales area, as we may be able to deliver ourselves.  If so, a SUBSTANTIAL discount will apply).

LambAnother issue we feel strongly about is 'food miles'. The thought of little vans flying around the country with just one parcel in the back is environmentally wasteful and fills us with horror! As does knowing that supermarket lorries often pick up goods, take them to a distribution centre and then take them back again to the place they just got them from! Just imagine a lorry picking up cabbages in Bristol, traveling to London, then taking them back to Bath!  Never mind a sell-by date, what about a mile-o-meter on a cabbages?

We have an arrangement with a local delivery firm who have refrigerated vans, and will deliver lamb to many places in the UK. With your co operation, we would like to make batch deliveries.  Several orders traveling in the same general direction means that as well as our lamb being produced in an environmentally friendly way, it is also delivered in an energy efficient way.  Where efficient arrangements can be made a discount may apply.

2008 lambs are grazing thee fields right now! We hope to start deliveries for this seasons lamb from July approx - so watch this space for timetable from june onwards. We cannot give a firm price now, given market fluctuations and uncertainty over food costs and fuel etc, but it will be fair bet to assume the price will rise above last years.

Ring us on 01443 670267, or email us with your order.
